The False Precision Problem in Wellness Scores

The False Precision Problem in Wellness Scores

Your wearable says your recovery is 82%.

That sounds precise.

It is not.

Most wellness scores give the appearance of certainty. A sleep score of 91. A recovery score of 42. A readiness score of 67. These numbers feel authoritative because they are clean, specific, and easy to understand. But the underlying physiology is not that simple.

Your body does not recover in percentages.

Recovery is a complex interaction between sleep architecture, autonomic nervous system activity, cardiovascular load, psychological stress, inflammation, training status, hydration, nutrition, circadian timing, and illness risk. A single score compresses all of that into one number. That number may be useful as a signal, but it is not the truth.

The problem is false precision.

People see an 82% recovery score and train hard even when they feel exhausted. They see a 42% score and panic even though the cause may be obvious: travel, poor sleep, alcohol, or a late meal. The number becomes the authority. The body becomes secondary.

That is backwards.

The score is the output. Interpretation requires understanding the inputs.

The AI MD Rx teaches you how to read beneath the score. Which metric changed? Did HRV drop? Did resting heart rate rise? Did sleep fragment? Did respiratory rate increase? Did the change persist for one day or three days? What behavior explains the pattern?

Do not outsource your physiology to a percentage.

Use the score as a starting point. Then interpret the signal.
